Kyle Kajihiro Interview on History of U.S. Militarism in Hawaii

Kyle Kajihiro is a scholar and activist living in Honolulu. He was my guide for a day during my stay and I filmed this 30 minute interview. Kyle is one of the most articulate and knowledgable people when it comes to Hawaii and U.S. Militarism throughout the Pacific.

Kyle presents the lead-up to the illegal “annexation that wasn’t” along with why Hawaii became so important to the rise of the American Empire.

This is the first in a series I am doing that will feature all of the dozen or so people I interviewed on my epic trip last summer from Hawaii down to the Marshall Islands. There turned out to be just too much important information and insights for me to include in my feature documentary, 11:57 – Three Minutes to Midnight, so I decided to publish each interview individually and perhaps one month apart. In a way, these interviews will serve as a trailer of sorts.
